2011 Inaugural Winter Season

posted Oct 6, 2011, 5:27 AM by Dusty Huxford   [ updated Oct 20, 2011, 1:34 PM ]

The Manta Ray Swim Team is proud to announce our inaugural winter swim season at the Community Aquatic Recreation Center (CARC) starting Monday, October 24, 2011!  Practices will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:30-6:30pm.  The winter season lasts from October through mid March.  We need at least 12 swimmers for the team to be successful, but the more the merrier, so sign up fast!

For the winter season we will be competing as part of the Cumberland Sea Otters.  We will practice at the CARC, but compete as a CUY Sea Otter.  The MRST recognizes that competing in the YMCA league requires time, dedication, travel and extra expenses during an academic school year.  As a result, MRST will not require all swimmers to compete in the YMCA league and these swimmers can choose to practice only.  For those wishing to compete, all YMCA fees will be paid directly to the YMCA by October 29, 2011, not the MRST.

There are three fees associated with swimming:  the CARC membership fee; the MRST Winter Fee; and the YMCA Competition Fee.  As a minimum, the CARC Fee and the MRST Fees are required.  The YMCA Competition Fee is only for those swimmers who want to compete in swim meets.

All swimmers must be members of the CARC by selecting from one of the below memberships:

1)      $15/mo for a total of $75/season.  Access to the pool ONLY during practice time ONLY.

2)      $150 MRST Individual Season Membership with access to the entire facility for 6 months.

3)      $280 Individual annual membership with access to the entire facility

a.       Covers CARC fees for summer swim team

4)      $480 family of 4 annual membership

a.       Family can use facility while swimmer is at practice

b.      Covers CARC fees for summer swim team

All swimmers are strongly encouraged to join the CARC with a full membership (3 or 4 above).  The CARC donates lane hours to the team on a limited basis.  The least we can do is join the CARC in return...

The Manta Ray Fees for the 2011 Winter Season are as follows:

$200 1st swimmer

$180 2nd swimmer (10% discount)

$150 3rd swimmer (25% discount)

For those swimmers who want to compete during the winter season, the YMCA Cumberland Sea Otter fees are due by Oct 29:

$175 for 12&Under ($100 swim league, $75 YMCA membership)

$190 for 13&Over ($100 swim league, $90 YMCA membership)
