I Can Swim-athon Fundraiser

The MRST is sponsoring, and more importantly, hosting, the “I Can Swim-athon Fundraiser” on Saturday, October 20th from 2-6pm at the CARC.  The proceeds of this event will benefit the “I Can Swim Program”.

This program brings ALL Kindergarten children in Garrett County through the CARC pools to receive basic swimming and water safety instruction.  Buses transport students from their school to the CARC for a four-day active learning program during the regular school week.  The goal of the program is to tech swimming proficiency and water safety goals appropriate for this age group.  These children are future MRST members!  Anything we can do to help will ultimately benefit the children and the community...

The “I Can Swim-athon Fundraiser” is an “All-Hands-On-Deck” (literally) event.  We will need all the swimmer’s parents to help out on October 20th to make this a success.  Parents will be registering participants, counting laps, timing swims (timed .93mi/33lap and 1.2mi/43lap swims), directing participants, and a few other things.

There will be a presentation on Monday, October 8 at the very beginning of swim practice (4:30 on the hallway bleachers) to discuss this in more detail.  We hope to see everyone there...
