Inclement Weather Policy Revision

In light of the Garrett County School Board's cancellations in January 2014, the MRST Board has modified the Inclement Weather Policy as follows:

The MRST will cancel practices whenever the Garrett County School System dismisses early due to inclement weather or whenever the practice pool (currently the Community Aquatic Recreation Center, CARC) closes during our normal scheduled practices.  It is, however, the responsibility of each swimmer and parent to use their best judgment and not place themselves at risk when traveling to swim practices.  The MRST will make reasonable efforts to notify swimmers and parents of practice cancellation via text (please sign up for the MRST texting service), or Facebook, or our website, or a possible combination thereof.

For clarity, the MRST will no longer cancel practices for temperature alone as the Garrett County School System has done several times during January 2014, nor will it cancel practices for morning snow since roads are typically drivable by evening practices, unless the practice pool has closed.  However, afternoon early dismissal of schools due to weather will cancel a practice.
